According to Vietnamese law, foreigners are allowed to own houses according to agreements in transactions of sale, lease-purchase, donation, inheritance of houses but not exceeding 50 years from the date of issuance of the Certificate and can be extended once for a period not exceeding 50 years if needed.

Foreigners can apply for an extension of the period of house ownership in Vietnam. The maximum period of house ownership in Vietnam for foreigners is not more than 100 years (including the extension period).

Except for the following cases:

- Foreign individuals married to Vietnamese citizens living in Vietnam are allowed to own houses and have the rights of house owners like Vietnamese citizens.

- Foreign individuals married to Vietnamese people residing abroad who are allowed to enter Vietnam are allowed to own houses and have the rights of house owners like Vietnamese people residing abroad.
